You must obtain a residence permit to legally stay in Turkey. Residence permit in Turkey gives some benefits like access to health services, public schools for children, simplification of the procedure for buying a car, freedom of movement around the country. In this article, we will talk about the details of obtaining a residence permit. Looking ahead, we note that it is not difficult to do. Turkey is a loyal country to foreigners and foreign investors.

Many people are choosing to move to Turkey because it has a comfortable climate, well-developed infrastructure in large cities, the possibility of obtaining citizenship for the purchase of real estate, advanced health care system. Each year, the number of people who moved to the Turkish Riviera is growing. The cost of houses by the sea in Turkey can be compared with the cost of housing in Moscow, Kiev, Minsk. New apartments in Turkey are ready-to-live, so you can move in immediately. Also, you can rent out a house in Antalya for extra income in summer.

Depending on the type of residence permit, it can be issued for a period of 1-2 years. The grounds for issuing a residence permit can be studies, marriage, family ties or investments. If you plan to buy an apartment in Antalya or another city, you must apply for a short-term residence permit. You can fill out the application yourself, or you can use the services of intermediaries.

The first step is to fill out an application on the e-ikamet website. You can do it in different languages. After completing the application, the system will prompt you to choose an interview date, on which you need to come with the necessary documents. As practice shows, you can fill in the application form yourself because it is translated into several languages. Also, you can use the services of a real estate agency in Turkey. The current list of documents is registered on the official website of the Immigration Department and in your application form. They include:

- Application for a residence permit (must be printed),

- 4 biometric photos,

- A photocopy and the original of your passport,

- Document confirming your ability to pay for the requested period of residence,

- Health insurance,

- Document of your current place of residence (rental agreement, contract confirming your stay in a hotel, a written commitment from your host, if you are staying with friends, for example). You must bring a notarized copy to the interview,

- An official receipt for payment of fees for residence permit.

If you forgot to bring any document for your interview, you have another 30 days to gather it. The waiting period is 10-90 days after you submit your documents. It depends on the workload at the Immigration Department. If your application was approved, your residence permit will arrive to you by mail. As soon as you receive your residence permit, you can use all government services in the same way as Turkish citizens.
